25 I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Harry Potter Reading Challenge

As some of you may or may not know, I have not read Harry Potter. I have watched all the movies and loved them. I decided after watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, it was time to read the series. So starting in January 2011, I begin reading this much loved series.  If you would like to join me in this adventure, whether you're a newbie like me or this is your fiftieth time, please be sure to leave a comment with your email so I can contact you.

Here is my reading schedule:

January: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
February: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
March: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
April: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
May: Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix
June: Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince
July: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

  1. I may try to join you on your quest! I'm not even sure how many times I've read through the complete series! I know it's more than 12! I may stop in June though, I never read the books right before the film is released. It usually causes me to nitpick the films to death the first time I see them. So, I can't see myself picking up Deathly Hallows before the film is released. Though I may read it after that, and there still would be July left.

    Anyway, my email is realornotreal12@gmail.com = )

  2. Woo, I'm so excited for you to start reading this! I like to reread the series once a year :)
My only advice to you is that you read the last book before you watch DH Part 2. Which means you'll either have to put off seeing the movie until later (I believe it comes out in June) or change your schedule. Honestly I can't imagine reading only 1 book a month. I was so anxious to get through them the first time (after the fourth book had just come out) I read one after the other.

  5. You are going to love the books; they are even better than the movies. I didn't read the series until all seven books were out and I finished them all in under a month, they were so great.

  6. I am going to read along with you! I have read books 1-4, but it's been a few years, so I want to go back and reread those before finishing the series. I also want to watch all the movies this time around too.

  7. I'm so excited for you! These books are awesome. I've read them multiple times and listened to the audio-books at least twice too. Keep us posted on what you think.

  8. Goodluck to you! I have been thinking about doing the same too, considering that I think I'm the only one who hasn't read Harry Potter yet - but now I know that I ain't alone =)) Post your thoughts on the books please! I'd like to know if it's any better than the movies or if I should just remain watching the movies instead :P

  15. I started reading this series last year but only got to book 2, so I'm joining you on your quest. My daughter has all the books, so I think I'm going to get the audiobooks from the library and listen while I read along. The audiobooks are very well-done.

  21. I know this isn't the place to comment on our progress, but I couldn't find a place on the challenge page. Anyway, I am truly enjoying this challenge. I'm all the way to #7 already. I'm listening to them! It has been wonderful! Thank you so much for hosting this challenge. Now I have to decide whether to start Deathly Hallows and cut off half-way through which I think will be impossible, or wait until after the movie. Arrgh, I don't think I can do that either. Library, here I come!

  22. @AlleluiaLu,
I'm so glad you're enjoying this! I am too. I'm only through the 2nd book though. I've been letting my kids listen to the books by CD. We have enjoyed that so much! It's hard to wait to read the books. That's something that has been a challenge for me as well :D

  23. I'm finished! That was great! Thank you so much for hosting this challenge. I learned so much more than I got from just watching the movies and Jim Dale is my very favorite narrator. I've been wanting to read these books for a couple of years and you made it possible for me! Thanks! Hope your kids enjoy listening to the recordings!
