0 The Clearing by Heather Davis

The Clearing by Heather Davis is not the worst books I ever read, but it is far from the best. The Clearing is about Amy, a girl who leaves home after being in an abusive relationship,to live with an elderly aunt. Amy soon realized that even though life in the rural country is different, it is also very similiar i.e. cliques.
Amy feels like she doesn't belong anywhere until she meets Henry. Henry is stuck on her aunt's property in the year 1944. Henry and Amy fall inlove, but know that it cannot last. I am sure many teens can relate to Amy and the struggles she goes through. It was not my cup of tea. However, I did like Aunt Mae. She is a hard working old gal, full of common sense. Read it or not, it's up to you.

0 The Ghost at Crutchfield Hall by Mary Downing Hahn

I recently had the opportunity to preview The Ghost at Crutchfield Hall by Mary Downing Hahn. It is the story about a 12 year old orphan girl, Florence, who goes to live with her unknown distant relations. Her aunt and uncle are still recovering from the loss of her cousin, Sofia. Sofia's brother is too ill for Florence to visit. Left alone, Florence gets supernatural visits from her deceased cousin. This story takes mysterious twists and turns. I think Charles Dickens or Charlotte Bronte would even approve of this story. It is written for ages 9 and up. It is due out around 9-6-10. Mark your calenders!

0 The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

I first came across this book when it was recommended by Amazon.com. After reading the description, it didn't take much for me to buy this book. The story is about a girl, Meghan Chase, who feels she doesn't fit in anywhere. She is soon thrown into a world that she doesn't understand in search of someone she cares for. Along the way she meets strange, kookie and dangerous characters. Mix all this in with A Midsummer's Night Dream and a pinch of romance and you got yourself a winner. I recommend this book to anyone, teens and adults alike, who love faeries. The Iron King is the first in a series. The next book the Iron Daughter comes out in August 2010.

P.S. I love to receive recommendations.

0 First Blog

There is nothing like being transported away by a good book. It's a great escape from the real world without actually going anywhere. I have read a lot of good books as well as bad. There are books that I go to over and over again, like they are old friends. This is the purpose of my blog. To review the books I have read; the good, the bad, and the even worse.
