of his existence....

My Thoughts:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the final book in the Harry Potter series. I approached this novel with great trepidation. Not because I thought it would be bad but because I knew it would be the end. However every good thing must come to an end.

In this novel Lord Voldemort has gained great power. The Death-Eathers have pretty much taken over everything imaginable. Harry, Ron and Hermione  are on the run.  Hermione has prepared for practically every situation and is truly a clever little witch. Without her I'm sure Harry and Ron would never have made it past book one. Ron has stepped up his game in this novel also. I think a lot of the characters really shined in this book. Everything that they've had to endure so far and yet the keep enduring. J.K. Rowling really put Harry through the ringer in this book. Even though Harry has to go through a lot of physical obstacles his most challenging ones are some psychological difficulties that he has to face.

This book is really amazing. I was so emotionally drained by the time I had finished reading it. Several characters didn't make it to the end of the book and that made me so sad. I was upset at the author for killing them but I know it is necessary. I love that Rowling wrote such wonderful characters.  I feel like I've watched them grow up over the series. I also like the way the book ended. It is bitter sweet. This is really an astonishing series. If you haven't read it you really should. It's definitely worth it. I also want to add that in addition to reading the books I also checked out the audio cds from my library. They are fantastic. The books are read by Jim Dale. He does a extraordinary job making the story come to life. I highly recommend the audio books to everyone.

This is the final book for me in the Harry Potter Reading Challenge. Am I glad that I finally read this series? YES! Am I kicking myself for not having read it sooner? YES! Twice actually. Thank you J.K. Rowling for writing a series that people of all ages can enjoy.

  1. I also loved that Jo gave her characters their own little moments in this final book. Dobby, Neville, Mrs. Weasley, Snape, McGonagall all get one last moment to shine!
