Summary:

To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces…

Sasha Riggs is a reclusive artist, haunted by dreams and nightmares that she turns into extraordinary paintings. Her visions lead her to the Greek island of Corfu, where five others have been lured to seek the fire star. Sasha recognizes them, because she has drawn them: a magician, an archaeologist, a wanderer, a fighter, a loner. All on a quest. All with secrets.

Sasha is the one who holds them together—the seer. And in the magician, Bran Killian, she sees a man of immense power and compassion. As Sasha struggles with her rare ability, Bran is there to support her, challenge her, and believe in her.

But Sasha and Bran are just two of the six. And they all must all work together as a team to find the fire star in a cradle of land beneath the sea. Over their every attempt at trust, unity, and love, a dark threat looms. And it seeks to corrupt everything that stands in its way of possessing the stars…

My Thoughts:

Hi, my name is Marcie and I am a Nora Roberts virgin . . . or I was a Nora Roberts virgin. Before I opened the pages of this book, I had not once read anything by Roberts. Which considering she's written over two hundred books in genres that I read, it seems rather implausible. But now, I've at last had my first experience with Stars of Fortune, the first book in the Guardians Trilogy.

From the very first page I knew I was going to enjoy reading this book. It starts out like a fairy tale would. And who doesn't love a good fairy tale. And that's just what this is.

"Once, in a time long ago, in a world beyond our own, three goddesses gathered to celebrate the dawn of a new queen."

The story centers around Sasha Riggs. She's an artist that has an unusual gift. Sasha dreams of a place she's never been and of people she's never met. So much so, that she paints them. Lured by destiny, she travels to the place she dreamed: Corfu. And once there she starts to uncover the reason why she's dreamed of Corfu and of the six mysterious strangers. And together they must become a team to help find three fallen stars that could change the fate of the world.

As I stated before, from the first page I was hooked. There are six individuals that bring something great to the story: a magician, an archaeologist, a wanderer, a fighter, and a loner. It's kinda like the breakfast club with a magical element. I breezed through this story in no time--not wanting to put it down for important things like work or cooking.

Stars of Fortune is full or adventure and romance. I love how Sasha grows from being a bit timid to a force to be reckoned with. And Bran . . . with his Irish accent. Wow. The book was a bit predictable, but I didn't mind because I loved the story so much. The only downside is that the next book, Bay of Sighs, doesn't come out until next summer.

So I'm a Nora Roberts virgin no longer. Now what Roberts book should I read while I'm waiting on the next book to come out?

  1. The first Nora Roberts series I read (back when I was in high school and was probably way too young for the material) was the Bride Quartet series and to this day it is still one of my all-time favorites by her. Another good one is the McGregor brides/McGregor grooms. Welcome to the Nora Roberts clan!
