Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
This is the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy. If you read my thoughts on The Hunger Games you know that the book took me by surprise. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but instead I loved it. I was eager to read Catching Fire, but it sat on my bookshelf for a few weeks. At last the time came and I read it. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. I was a little worried that Catching Fire would lose some of the "fire" that The Hunger Games had. I have read trilogies or series where the first book was great, but after that they lost momentum. Suzanne Collins has written another fantastic book. It was as exciting as the first book. It took 2 days to read it. I wanted to neglect everything just to finish it. The world Suzanne creates is harsh but the characters are fantastic. The story line keeps you interested from beginning to end.
If you haven't read these books yet, you should put them on your TBR list. Now all I have to do is wait for Mockingjay. All I can say to that is Bring It On!
Just for my nosy nature: Who do want Katniss to end up with Peeta or Gale? Leave a comment and let me know.
