I met someone who changed everything. Matthias. My autistic sister's guardian angel. Honest. Inspiring. Funny. Hot. And immortal. That was the problem. What could I do? I did what any other girl would do-I fell in love with him. Zoë's sister darts in front of cars. Her brother's a pothead. Her parents are so overwhelmed; they don't see Zoë lost in her broken life. Zoë escapes the only way she knows how: partying. Matthias, a guardian sent from Heaven, watches over Zoë's autistic sister. After Zoë is convinced he's legit, angel and lost girl come together in a love that changes destiny. But Heaven on Earth can't last forever.

This was a hard review for me to write because I absolutely loved this book. I want to tell you everything I love about this book but I don't want to spoil it for you. I want you to experience the awesomeness of this book yourself.  I really wasn't expecting, when I read this book, to be taken on an emotional roller coaster. Jennifer Laurens created a realistic story with realistic characters.  The story is told from Zoe's point of view. She is a teenager dealing with the pressures of life but also with the challenge of having an autistic sister.  Zoe is stressed out until she meets her sister's guardian angel, Matthias. Matthias has a way about him that calms not only Abria, but Zoe too. Matthias is a great character. He has a bit of mystery about him that keeps you wondering.
The family in this book is dealing with many different issues. Jennifer Laurens does not gloss over the problems of drinking and drug abuse. She deals with them head on. I loved the way the family interacts with each other while dealing with these issues.  It's not "Leave it to Beaver" and there is no easy fix.  I will say that the ending took me by complete surprise.  I really hope everyone gets a chance to read this book. It is definitely worth reading.
Please join me tomorrow for an interview with the lovely Jennifer Laurens.  It's my first interview and I am really excited. Plus Jennifer has given me a copy of Heavenly to give away to one lucky reader.

  1. Enjoyed the review! Sounds like a good read and certainly a new twist on the angel phenom going around right now. I like the fact that the angel has a "realistic" purpose in the story and then the love part joins the storyline. Thanks for sharing your adventure with this title...and happy reading!

  2. Thanks for reading and spreading the word about a story close to my heart. x x x Can't wait to give away a copy!! Jenn

  3. This sounds incredible! I think that thing that caught my attention is the autistic sister. I used to work with autistic kids so my ears always perk up when a story has that aspect!
