Sunday Confessions January 2, 2011

This is a weekly meme started by yours truly as a way to get to share a bit about myself and also learning more about you. Sometimes its about books and book related topics and sometimes it's not. This is all in good fun and I would love it if you would participate.

Happy New Year everyone! I can hardly believe it's 2011 already. I hope everyone's holidays were good.    This week's Sunday Confessions I want to talk about goals and resolutions for the new year. In general I usually don't like to make resolutions. In my mind it has "doomed" written all over it.  I used to make up silly ones. For instance, I resolve to eat chocolate once a week. That's one I know I can keep.  The last few years I exchanged the word resolution for goals. It's usually the same goal each year as it is this year: Try something new.  That's it. Try one thing that I have never done before. Last year, I tried sushi and I liked it! I also started this blog back in April. Both of these goals were a little scary to me at first but I'm happy I did both.
I haven't thought of the new thing I'm going to try for this year yet but it's only Jan. 2.  So, do you make New Year's resolutions? Do you make goals around this time of year?

  1. I did though not sure how well I am gonna keep to them but I am gonna try thats for sure. One personal one is try to quit smoking , cross your fingers I can do this.

  2. Great meme. My only goal this year is to quit smoking. I seem to try this every year, but this is the year to make it happen. I plan on trading a cig for a book or my writing to take my mind off of it. Hopefully it will work.

  3. I've been trying to commit myself to read more then the previous year. I've done this for the last two years so I'll be doing it again, to beat 104 books.

Also, not to cut my hair. Trying to grow it out is a pain for me. I made it last year. Perhaps one more year and it will be the length I want it.

I like how you challenge yourself to try something new. I'm always doing new things and I think it is a great great way to learn. Bravo to you.

  4. I don't really make resolutions. But, my family's tradition is that whatever you do on New Year's day, you will focus on it over the next year. So, New Year's I work on my writing, some reading, and of course school work. :)

  5. My three biggest goals (there's that word) are to read more, write more, and continue to keep my grades up. I got a 3.88 last semester, and for me that's outstanding. I want to graduate with good enough grades to get into Grad school if I decide to go that route.

  6. my goal is to go swimming at least once a week, to read more and to browse more genres is my reading. Also try and write as much as I can.

I wish you luck with your goals! :)
