A year in review

So I'm back from my vacation. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. I can't believe it's officially 2012. My holidays were good. My mom, step dad, my sister and her kids came to visit. I haven't seen the nephews and niece in about a year. They've grown so much. It was great seeing everyone but it left me exhausted. I received some great Christmas gifts too. My hubs bought me a Kindle Fire. I was so surprised and happy. I look forward to reading many books on it.  I downloaded an Angry Birds and Stupid Zombie apps to the Fire. I'm addicted to these games. I'm currently stuck on a level so I'll have to get my son to help me out and get me to the next level. I'm also got some money so I'm going to go book shopping and get some books on my wishlist. How was your Christmas?

I waited until the last possible minute for my challenges. I wanted to complete them all but I failed on some.

This was the best thing I did in 2011. Well, maybe not the best thing but it definitely made the top 10. Last year was my first time reading Harry Potter. I loved it! The books are amazing! I'm thinking of doing it again this year but instead of doing just a re-read making it a Harry Potter book vs. movie challenge. What do you think? Are you interested?

My reading goal was 100 books for 2011 but I managed to read 134 books! I far surpassed my goal and that made me really happy. I'm going to set my 2012 challenge to 145 books. Hopefully I can do it.

I did not meet my goal for 2011 YA Debut Author Challenge. I did read a lot of debut authors in 2011 just not enough YA debut authors. I still plan on reading some of the books I planned on reading for this challenge this year though.

I did not have a specific amount of books that I needed to read for this challenge so I'm not sure if I can call it a failure but I bought several books that I didn't get a chance to read. I absolutely plan to read them sometime in the future. Hopefully the near future.

I haven't signed up for any challenges this year. I thought about it a lot but I just couldn't decide what I wanted to do. I know this year I want to read books that I already have on my bookshelf. Last year I bought, was gifted and won some amazing books that I want to make time to read this year.

What challenges did you sign up for? Any recommendations?
If you're interested in a Harry Potter movie vs. book challenge, comment below and let me know. If enough people are interested I'll set the challenge up.

I'm looking forward to 2012 and all the great books I'll read.

  1. Hey Marcie, I just wanted to say thank you again for participating in the Georgette Heyer challenge this year! I hope you enjoy the books you bought- do let me know what you thought :)

  2. Thanks for hosting the challenge Stephanie. I really like GH and can't wait to read more of her novels.
