Goodreads Summary:

Half Bad by Sally Green is a breathtaking debut novel about one boy's struggle for survival in a hidden society of witches.

You can't read, can't write, but you heal fast, even for a witch.

You get sick if you stay indoors after dark.

You hate White Witches but love Annalise, who is one.

You've been kept in a cage since you were fourteen.

All you've got to do is escape and find Mercury, the Black Witch who eats boys. And do that before your seventeenth birthday.

My thoughts:
Half Bad by Sally Green has been talked about by many people, and I can see why. Half Bad is a thought-provoking novel. The story centers around Nathan. From the moment he was born others wished him harm. His only crime: He's half-Black Witch half-White Witch. Because of this, Nathan has to endure things that no other person should. The few people that show him kindness are punished. The only thing Nathan really wants is to survive, and boy, does he have to work for it.

From the first page the story pulls you in. The characters and the world Green created are haunting. Even after you close the book, you wonder what is going on with the characters. Nathan is a character that you want to succeed and maybe get a little payback too.

Overall I was impressed by this book. It was a fast-paced read that is full of surprises. I can't wait for the second book to come out. Unfortunately it's scheduled to come out in 2015. Though it will give you plenty of time to read this book if you haven't already.
