My Thoughts:
I can't recall the first time that I watched The Princess Bride. All that I know is that I was young, and I immediately fell in love with the movie. Now fast forward to present the day. The Princess Bride is still one of my favorite movies. It is a movie that I watch again and again and still love it, despite being able to quote it verbatim.

So imagine my excitement when I came across As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From The Making of The Princess Bride. I was even more excited when I learned that Cary Elwes, Westley, is the narrator of this book! So, how is Elwes at narrating this book? He does pretty well. Though I'm not fond of most of the impersonations that he ventures in As You Wish. I did enjoy listening to his experiences in his own voice. An element that would have been lost if someone else narrated it.

There are many things I loved about this book. It was nice to learn about the people involved in making the movie--not just the actors. One of my favorite parts of this book is listening to the behind the scenes making of this fantastic movie. Cary's experience is mostly positive. In fact, most of the cast had no idea that the movie would become a big hit. But it seems they all loved making the movie. Perhaps that's why it's so popular. I also love the excerpts from some of the cast and crew, adding to Elwes experience. Some of the actors that lend their experience are: Christopher Guest, Carol Kane, Norman Lear, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, and Robin Wright.

This audio book, like the movie, is suitable for everyone. In fact, my children came in and out of the room while I listened to it. They even sat down for a spell and listened with me. I will warn you, listening to this audio book may cause you to reminiscence, and you might end up on the couch watching The Princess Bride.
