4 Challenges I'm Taking On In 2016

Image
I'm really excited to have joined a few reading challenges for 2016. One of my goals is to read more books that are already in my sad and neglected TBR pile. But also to read more classics and nonfiction books. I think these challenges will help me stay focused and on task.

The Rules Books published during the Victorian age (1837-1901) are acceptable. Books written about the Victorian age are acceptable, no matter what year they were published. (Here are some ideas) Stories are not limited to Victorian Britain. Read about what was going on in other parts of the world during this time! Challenge is open to everyone everywhere---you don't have to have a blog or site to enter to win. Just enter the link to your online review (Amazon, Goodreads, BookCrossing, or elsewhere). Go to Belle's Library if you'd like to participate in this too.

I read several nonfiction books a year, but I'd like to challenge myself to read more. So, I'm going to sign up at the Explorer le…

Readers, I need help . . .

Image
It's been a few years since I've participated in a reading challenge (other than the Goodreads Reading Challenge) and I've missed it. I've also been a little out of the loop lately, and that's why I need your help. If you know of a 2016 reading challenge, then please let me know. I read pretty much across genres, so I'm up for anything. Don't forget to include the website in your comments. Thank you so much!

Happy Holidays!

A young empress defies her powerful father for love and her rightful place on the throne.

An exiled princess finds a new sense of purpose and creates a legacy that will stand through the ages.

These stories provide a glimpse of the dynamic and proud Byzantines who lived during the height of the empire's splendor.

"Through elegantly described details, sharply observed characters, and especially crisp, modern-sounding dialogue, Stephenson takes these vignettes from the thousand years of Byzantine history, mixes them liberally with such excellent modern narrative histories as John Julius Norwich's A Short History of Byzantium, and manages to create three very intriguing windows into a part of history largely unknown to many readers…
