Book Description:

Spying on the Luminon, Aoléon and Gilbert uncover his plot to steal Earth’s milk cows and make the disturbing discovery that the Martian leader plans to disrupt Mars’s galact supply. The duo races to warn Aoléon’s father, Deimos, a manager at the galactworks, before the Luminon’s saboteur can act.

While still on the run, Aoléon takes her pilot’s exam so she can join the Martian intergalactic exploration fleet. However, during the test-run, something goes horribly wrong. The two are put in a life-threatening situation and only Bizwat, Aoléon’s Procyon commando friend, can save them.

Gilbert finally gets his chance to learn to skyboard, but the lesson turns into a test of skill as he and Aoléon are chased by the Royal Paladin Guard.

Will they survive?

Don't miss this exciting part 3 of 5 of the middle-grade sci-fi series Aoleon The Martian Girl.

My Thoughts:
The action really begins to ramp up with this third installment of Aoleon: The Martian Girl. The main characters, Aoleon and Gilbert, have been given the task of investigating the Martian leaders, known as the Lumion. That is where we pick up the story. They are trying to learn more about the Lumion’s plans, and oh boy, they get much more than they bargained for. Action, adventure, intrigue, and peril await our teenage heroes.
I am so digging this series. It is a lot of fun. I love the setting. LeVasseur is creating a beautiful picture of the surroundings. The chemistry between Aoleon and Gilbert is blossoming. Aoleon’s flrtiness and their playful, “almost boyfriend/girlfriend” teenage banter is cute. I am about to start the fourth installment and am eagerly awaiting the chance to start. Once again, this is a must read for the young sci-fi fan of your family.

DRAMA, PASSION, TRAGEDY, AND BEAUTY: C.W.’s new novel stunningly imagines the life of Coco Chanel—the iconic fashion designer whose staggering creativity built an empire and made her one of the 20th century’s most influential, and controversial, figures.

Born into rural poverty, Gabrielle Chanel and her sisters are sent to a convent orphanage after their mother’s death. Here, the nuns nurture Gabrielle’s exceptional sewing skills, a talent that will propel her into a life far removed from the drudgery of her childhood.

Transforming herself into Coco—a seamstress and sometime torch singer—the petite brunette burns with ambition, an incandescence that draws a wealthy gentleman who will become the love of her life. She immerses herself in his world of money and luxury, discovering a freedom that sparks her creativity. But it is only when her lover takes her to Paris that Coco discovers her destiny.

Rejecting the frilly, corseted silhouette of the past, her sleek minimalist styles reflect the youthful ease and confidence of the 1920s modern woman. As Coco’s reputation spreads, her couturier business explodes, taking her into rarefied society circles and bohemian salons. Her little black dress, her signature perfume No. 5; her dramatic friendships, affairs, and rivalries with luminaries of her era increase her wealth and fame. But as the years pass, success cannot save her from heartbreak. And when Paris falls to the Nazis during World War II, Coco finds herself at a dangerous crossroads, forced to make choices that will forever change her.

An enthralling portrayal of an extraordinary woman who created the life she desired, Mademoiselle Chanel is Coco’s intimate story.

Eternal Obsession
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

Endless YearningLanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

My Thoughts:
Can this really be #14? It seems like just yesterday I was reading the first book in this series. I mostly listened to this book on audio, but I did switch to the ebook from time to time. If you haven't listened to the audio books in this series it's a MUST. Robert Petkoff is an amazing narrator. He does an wonderful job with this series. I cannot recommend him enough!

I have been anticipating this book for awhile. We've learned a bit about Lanthe and Thronos in some of the earlier books, but Dark Skye is where we get the full story. And really, a lot of their story is brought about by misunderstandings. However the fun in their story happens when they actually start communicating. I really liked their story. It's basically about two really different people (immortals) looking past their differences and what they think they know to be true, to find that they have a lot more in common than they think.

I love that their story started when they were children. And how after all the crap they both had been through, there was still love. Also, I love the way that Nix always has an ace up her sleeve and meddles whether it's needed or not. I would love to know Nix's story. I definitely like this book more than I did the last one, and I look forward to the next one!

0 Review: Cinderella and the Ghost

Title: Cinderella and the Ghost (The Cursed Princes Book 4)
Author: Marina Myles
Publisher: Kensington
Published: February 17, 2015
Ebook, ARC
ISBN13: 9781601832832
Genre: Fantasy

When her demanding stepmother died, Ella Benoit knew just how far their fortunes had fallen, unlike her spoiled stepsisters. So she never expected the bequest from her late father. A chateau in France and the freedom to live her own life, all at once!

The chateau has seen better days, but Ella knows she can put the ruined house to rights. The life-size portrait of its first owner, Jean-Daniel Girard, seems to watch her work with approval, even pleasure. With bright blue eyes, strong features, and an athlete’s body, the viscount is a tempting sight even now, more than three hundred years after his tragic death. But the more she looks at the portrait, the more convinced Ella is that she’s met Jean-Daniel before. In another life, perhaps—or maybe, as the form who haunts the halls at night, invading Ella’s dreams…

My Thoughts:
A few weeks ago, I was in a reading slump. I picked up and put down several different books that I just could not get into. Was it the book's fault? Probably not. After some advice from fellow readers I decided to pick a book from a genre that I haven't read in awhile. Because who doesn't love fairy-tale retelling? It turns out Cinderella and the Ghost was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump.

I do want to begin by saying that though this book got me through, I didn't love it. There were a great many things to like about this book--Ella, a haunted portrait, a French chateau--but this book also had it's problems (at least for me).

Ella or Cinderella has lived a tumultuous life. Her father died when she was young, She had to take care of her evil stepmother, and her stepsisters were a joke. After her stepmother passed away, she learned that her father had left her a chateau in France. With the help of a close friend (who acts as her fairy godmother), Ella throws caution to the wind and moves to France. Once there, she's transfixed by a painting. A painting of a man that she swears she's met before. And this is where the mystery begins . . .

I definitely liked the mystery aspect of this book; it's what kept me turning pages. What I didn't quite like was not understanding if this was a reincarnation or time-travel book. It seemed like both at times. It actually confused me a bit. Though I liked it, I also thought the story line was predictable. I also liked the chemistry between the two main characters: Ella and Jean-Daniel. I don't want to give too much of the story away, because it will ruin the reading experience for anyone who hasn't read it yet. And if you haven't, this would be a great book to read to de-stress.

0 Michelle Murray shares her top ten favorite mythical creatures

Once upon Mystica there were six wizards, three light and three dark. One of the dark wizards, Midnight says a spell to trap the fellow wizards. The spell goes astray, trapping all the wizards including Midnight. One curious boy finds on of these stones and releases Midnight. Midnight is loose on Mystica, gathering an army and preparing for war. Miranda is an average college student until she starts having dreams of Mystica, she travels to Mystica following her dreams. Her dreams are leading her to find Lightning, a white wizard, and the only one that can stop Midnight. Follow Miranda through Mystica's Plains, Ice Caves, Forest of the Lost, and the Dragons Lair. Can Miranda find and release Lightning and save Mystica?

10 Favorite Mythological Creatures

Hello my name is Michelle Murray. I am the author of the young adult fantasy series The Dream Walker, Land of Mystic a Series. I live in Wisconsin with my husband and two young men (my children). My book is set in the magical, mystical world of Mystica. Since I am a fantasy writer, I was asked to list my top ten mythological creatures. Here is the list I came up with:

10. Griffins, They have the body of a lion and wings of an Eagle. They can fly and roar!

9. Phoenix, this magical bird dies and comes alive again by fire.

8. Centaurs, the body of a horse and torso of a man/woman. In Greek Mythology, there were good and evil ones. They were considered to be unpredictable and wild. Yet, there were some that lived in harmony with nature.

7. Pegasus, a winged horse and faithful companion.

6. Fairies, this mischievous creatures can be fun, playful, or spiteful. Plus, who doesn’t like a sprinkling of magical pixie dust?

5. Sirens, Sirens were women who lured men to their death. The story of these creatures has always intrigued me, it is mentioned in the Odyssey and several other fantasy books.

4 Minotaur, a creature with the head of a bull and the boy of a man trapped in a maze. You would be angry too if you were trapped in a maze with only young children to eat!

3 Orthrus, a two headed dog that guards the underworld. He is slain by Hercules. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to mess with a giant two headed dog!

2. Unicorn, a horse with a magical horn. There are many depictions in different cultures of the unicorn. Stories of men hunting these magical creatures down for their horn and blood. I wrote a poem about a unicorn, and it was published in a fantasy magazine. Their majesty, beauty, and magic have always inspired me.

1. Dragons, Dragons have many colors and species as well, from serpents in the water to magical flying beasts. Robin Hobb does a fantastic job of delving into dragons stories in The Dragon Keeper series. I have a baby dragon, Skye, in my book. Another series with dragons in it that I enjoy is the Dragon Lance series by Margaret Weiss, and Tracy Hickman.

These are the ones I came up with, what are some of your favorites?

"My name is William Shakespeare. No, not that Shakespeare; and no jests please, I’ve heard them all. I’m the other one, the ne’er do well cousin, the loafer, known to family and friends as the dunce, the one who could not recite Cicero or Horace, who could never be as good as his clever cuz, the one who has just come to Bishopsgate from Stratford with silly dreams in his head and a longing to make something more of himself than just a glover’s handyman.”

What he finds in London is Lady Elizabeth Talbot, who is willing to pass a few shillings to this blundering brawler if he will help her find her husband. Poor William does not realize the trail will lead to the truth behind the death of Shakespeare’s great rival, Christopher Marlowe - or to a lifelong love affair with a woman far above his station.

Each book tells the story of William’s adventures as England’s first gumshoe, set against turbulent Elizabethan politics; of his romantic pursuit of the impossible Elizabeth Talbot; while charting the career of his up and coming dramatist cousin, the bard of Stratford, but just Will to his family.

Author Bio’s:
Anne L. Parks:
Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains, Anne L. Parks has spent the last 25 years moving all over the United States. Married to the Navy - well a man in the Navy - Parks has lived in various places throughout the United States. Now she resides in the Washington D.C. area, and loves every minute. She has four children, and one spoiled German Shepard. 2013 marked her debut in publishing. Her first novel, Strangers, released on her 45th birthday. She was amazed at how many people fell in love with a story about two people dealing with grief, and finding love again. Abby and Bryce were the perfect couple to introduce Parks as an up-and-coming author. Since then, she has published the complete Return To Me series, which includes The Return, Return to Newport, Lauren's Return, Returning Home, and RSVP: A Christmas Novella. This year, along with the anthology, she plans to publish another short story, along with the Demons trilogy. The first book, Of Demons and Stones, will release in July 2015. Always eager to talk to readers, so find her through the links below and say "hi."

Annie Rose Welch:
Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie Rose Welch has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty-one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm. When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently (still) resides in the big shake (although her southern roots are calling her home) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Lashell Collins:
Lashell Collins is an American author of romantic suspense, paranormal and contemporary romance. She spent the last twenty years of her life working in veterinary clinics and garden centers in her home state of Ohio, and is now living her dream of writing full-time. She loves a good love story, whether she’s watching it on TV, reading it, or writing it. In food terms, she likes to think of her own stories as sweet and spicy – sweet romance with spicy sex scenes! Lashell walks to the beat of her own drum, but that’s okay ’cause she’s got a pretty good sense of rhythm. Basically, she’s a geeky, quirky, laid-back, rocker-loving kinda girl who’s married to a retired cop, motorcycle-riding, bad-boy alpha all her own, and she likes to write about sexy police officers, werewolves and rockstars - or some inventive combination of the three! When she’s not busy tapping away on her laptop and living vicariously through her characters, she can usually be found watching Grimm, rocking out to Slash, stuffing her face full of Chinese food, or riding on the back of her husband’s Harley-Davidson. Give her a shout, she loves to hear from readers!

Dina Haynes:
Dina Haynes is the pseudonym for an author who has always called the San Francisco Bay Area home, though she currently resides in Southern California. Raised in a single-parent family household with her mother and sister, she aptly refers to it as “the house of estrogen.” And, not to be forgotten, the one male energy that stood out in her upbringing was a pet Pomeranian-mix named Theodore. He is no longer with us, but his spirit lives on in her heart and on the pages. And every dog she harasses on the street.
